Senior Counsel Job Overview:
The Junior Law Associate is responsible for providing legal support to all aspects of the company's manufacturing operations.
This entry-level position will work closely with the legal team to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, assist with contract negotiations and drafting, support labor and employment matters, and protect the company's intellectual property.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in legal principles with an interest in the manufacturing sector and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of legal excellence and integrity.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating contracts related to manufacturing, including supplier agreements, distribution agreements, service agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
Conduct legal research and provide advice on regulatory compliance matters, including environmental regulations, safety standards, and labor laws affecting the manufacturing industry.
Support the legal team in managing labor and employment issues, including drafting employment contracts, advising on labor disputes, and ensuring compliance with workplace regulations.
Participate in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Assist in the protection of the company's intellectual property, including coordinating with external counsel on patent filings, trademarks, and copyright registrations.
Provide support in litigation matters, including gathering evidence, preparing legal documents, and coordinating with external counsel as needed.
Contribute to the management of legal risks by identifying potential areas of vulnerability and risk; develop and implement corrective action plans.
Stay informed about legal developments affecting the manufacturing industry and advise on the potential impact on the company.
Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Senior Counsel or Chief Legal Officer.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction or eligibility to register as in-house counsel.
Prior legal experience or internships in manufacturing, corporate law, or a related field is preferred.
Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory environment affecting the manufacturing industry.
Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in legal research platforms (e.
g.
, Westlaw, LexisNexis) and Microsoft Office applications.
Working Conditions:
Office setting within a manufacturing facility, with occasional visits to manufacturing sites as needed.
Regular office hours with the expectation to work additional hours to meet project deadlines or when urgent legal matters arise.
Physical Requirements:
Primarily sedentary with occasional walking, standing, and traveling to different company sites.
